Plant Identifier ("Plant Identifier," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how information is processed when you use the Plant Identifier mobile application (the "App").

1. Information We Process

Plant Photos and AI Analysis

Plant Identifier lets you take a plant photo with the in-app camera or select one image using Apple's photo picker. The App does not scan your photo library or use the camera in the background.

When you start an analysis, the selected image is resized and compressed and then sent over an encrypted HTTPS connection to Kie.ai's temporary file service. Kie.ai provides the image to a configured Google Gemini model together with an analysis instruction so the App can return a likely plant identification, visible-health assessment, safety information, and care guidance. The providers that receive these requests may also process technical information normally associated with an internet request, such as an IP address, request time, and server logs.

Camera preview frames remain on your device unless you capture a photo. If you do not want a photo sent for remote AI processing, do not start an analysis.

Plant Identifier does not use submitted photos for advertising, facial recognition, or biometric identification.

Saved Garden and Local App Data

If you choose to save an analysis to My Garden, the App stores the following information locally in its private storage on your iPhone:

Garden records and analysis results are not uploaded to a database operated by Plant Identifier. Depending on your Apple device and backup settings, locally stored App data may be included in an iCloud or device backup managed by Apple.

The App uses iOS Keychain to store a device-only flag indicating whether the free analysis has been used and to store Premium scan-allowance records associated with an App Store transaction. Keychain records may remain on the device after the App is removed.

Plant Identifier does not create user accounts and does not ask for your name, postal address, or phone number.

Firebase Remote Config

Plant Identifier uses Google Firebase Remote Config to retrieve configuration needed to operate the analysis feature. Firebase Remote Config may process a Firebase installation identifier, App identifier, IP address, and related technical service information to return configuration values and protect the service.
